CobaltFlex · Thread identification
Identify hydraulic threads in 4 steps
Not sure which thread you have? Measure it and find the right part.
Male or female thread?
How do I measure correctly?
- Measure with a caliper across the thread crests, not in a groove.
- Measure an undamaged section of thread.
- Measure 2–3 times and enter the average.
- Use a thread gauge to measure the pitch or threads per inch.
- A measurement identifies candidates, not a confirmed safe connection. Also check the seal.
Hydraulic thread types
BSP, JIC, ORFS, metric and NPT threads may look similar. Diameter, pitch and sealing geometry together identify the connection. JIC uses a 37° cone, ORFS a flat O-ring seal and metric DIN fittings often a 24° cone. NPT and BSPT use tapered threads. Always compare the exact version and product specifications.
